Privacy Policy

Our Privacy Commitment
PDFCombiner is built with privacy as the foundation. Your PDFs never leave your device.
What We Do
100% Client-Side Processing:
- ✓ All PDF merging happens entirely in your web browser
- ✓ Your PDF files are processed using JavaScript libraries running on your device
- ✓ No files are uploaded to our servers or any third-party servers
- ✓ Files are loaded into browser memory, processed, and immediately cleared after download
Data Collection
We Collect: Nothing. Zero. Nada.
- ❌ No file uploads to servers
- ❌ No user accounts or authentication
- ❌ No tracking cookies or analytics
- ❌ No logging of file names or content
- ❌ No third-party integrations that access your files
Local Browser Storage
History Feature:
- Your merge history is stored locally in your browser using IndexedDB
- This data includes: file names, page counts, and merge timestamps
- This data never leaves your browser
- You can clear this history at any time using the "Clear All History" button
- History is automatically deleted when you clear your browser data
URL State:
- When you use the "Share Configuration" button, merge configuration is encoded in the URL
- This allows you to share your merge setup with others
- No sensitive file content is included in the URL - only configuration (e.g., number of files, file names)
Technology Stack
PDF Processing Libraries:
- pdf-lib: Client-side PDF manipulation (open source)
- PDF.js (Mozilla): PDF rendering and thumbnails (open source)
Both libraries run entirely in your browser and do not communicate with external servers.
Your Rights
Since we don't collect any data, there's nothing for us to:
- Share with third parties
- Sell to advertisers
- Store on our servers
- Delete upon request (because we never had it)
Security
Your PDFs Stay Private:
- Files remain in browser memory only during processing
- Memory is cleared immediately after merge completion
- No temporary files created on servers
- No file content transmitted over the network
HTTPS:
- All connections to PDFCombiner use HTTPS encryption
- This protects you from network-level eavesdropping
- However, actual file processing happens entirely offline in your browser
Changes to This Policy
If we ever change how we handle data, we will:
- Update this document with a new "Last Updated" date
- Notify users via a banner on the homepage
- Never retroactively apply changes to data we don't have
Questions?
Since we don't collect data, we can't contact you individually. However, if you have questions about our privacy practices, you can verify our claims by:
- Inspecting the browser Network tab (you'll see no file uploads)
- Reviewing our open-source code
- Using browser DevTools to see local-only storage
Summary
The Bottom Line:
- Your PDFs never leave your browser
- We don't know what files you merge
- We don't track your usage
- Your privacy is protected by design, not just by policy
